Handsplit & Resawn Shakes have split faces and sawn backs. Cedar logs are cut into 18” or 24” lengths. Blanks or boards are split into thickness of ½” (Medium) or ¾” (Heavy) and then run diagonally through a bandsaw producing two tapered shakes.

Taper-sawn Red Cedar Shakes are sawn on both sides in 18” or 24” lengths. Used on roofs and sidewalls for a semi-textured look with a stronger shadow line than a shingle
